
St. Peter's Church, Riga, Latvia
First mentioned in medieval accounts in 1209, its original wooden spire was at one time the tallest in Europe, but unfortunately suffered over the centuries having collapsed once only to burn down after it was rebuilt. A bomb hit the church in 1941, so the current spire actually dates from 1973. Take the lift to the top for excellent views.
